We are seeking submissions for our next issue themed

“In the Face of Disaster”

For our next issue, we are looking for short pieces (250-750 words) that address the ecological crisis through a radical and local lens. This could mean practical advice about growing native and edible plants, finding space to start new gardens, cultivating food sovereignty, exploring renewable energy options, building mutual aid networks, or preparing for climate-induced disasters.

We welcome report-backs from local projects, schemes for the future, and how-to guides that share crucial knowledge. Visual pieces such as artwork and comics that address the theme of ecological resilience are also welcome.

Soft deadline: January 31st, 2023.

Please email all submissions to rosecityradical@protonmail.com
or snail mail: ATTN: Rose City Radical, 2249 E Burnside St, Portland, OR, 97217.

Written submissions should be as a google doc, .docx format, or plain text and under 1000 words. Artwork should be a high resolution pdf or png file and keep in mind so far we have only been able to afford printing in black and white.

Payment: we compensate folks $25-$100 varying by submission type and size. Please communicate with us about how much labor went into your piece and we will try our best to compensate you fairly. Priority given to BIPOC and low-income folks. All are welcome!

You may wish to include a name, one-line bio, and/or personal links with your submission. Once we have had a chance to review submissions and decide what we are able to publish, we will be in touch about payment and next steps.
